Momiji Sushi & Hibachi located on 210 SW 17th Street in Pendleton has some great sushi. It may not be the most popular place, but that helps with a quiet and peaceful meal. You can have your choice of sitting at a table or booth or sitting at the bar. Having done both, I would suggest sitting at the bar and enjoying the experience of watching someone make your delicious roll.
When you enter the room, it is fairly open and clean. Also, the tables are all ready as soon as you arrive so you can be seated quickly. Once you are seated, your waiter stays on top of making sure you are satisfied. They are attentive about checking on how you are doing, refill water glasses, and make sure you are happy with your food and don’t need anything else. The service is well groomed, very nice, and serve you with a smile.
Once you have ordered your sushi, you might look around a little bit at the place if you’ve never been there before. The room is split in half by large shelves full of hand fans. Each fan has its own design that makes it unique. I actually quite like the display. There are also several windows around the room helping it to be well-lit and feel open. Soft music with no words also plays in the background. The room design is simple and the room is quiet and peaceful, ready for a relaxed meal.
After you have received your food, you will be able to see the intricacy of your roll and the possible sauce design. All of the rolls that I have tried have been extremely good and I enjoyed thoroughly. I would highly recommend the Oregon Roll, Cherry Blossom Roll, and Cowboy Roll if you don’t know what to get. As a warning for anyone who thinks it sounds interesting, the Jalapeno Yellowtail Roll contains more jalapeno than yellowtail and packs a good punch, however if you like spicy foods, this may be the roll for you. The rolls are a decent size and costs match the average cost of sushi for a simple roll and a little bit higher for a specialty roll. The sushi here is definitely worth what it costs.
One con, which could also be a pro, is the menu size. The menu is very large, making it hard to narrow it down to a few good rolls. This is also a good thing because you know that they offer a wide variety of foods so you can find what you like. However, if you are indecisive about food like me, it makes it tough to choose what few rolls you want. They also offer a sushi boat with many different types of sushi if you don’t want to choose or want to experiment with different types of fish and sushi.
Overall, Momiji Sushi & Hibachi is a great restaurant. They offer a good variety, are very clean, and their food is great. You also get waited on by a great staff who serve you with a smile. This restaurant is a great place to enjoy a peaceful and delicious dinner and I would highly recommend it.
