Tullis, who currently resides in Pendleton OR, commutes to Helix for high school. She is a junior and has been attending school in Helix since sixth grade. Tullis loves to do many things including; volleyball, basketball, track, listening to music, hanging out with her friends, and even dabbling in the world of politics. But above all of these she enjoys watching several assorted TV shows.
Tullis watches shows like Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, and How to get Away with Murder. But to say she merely watches these shows would be an understatement. It is safe to say that Tullis is obsessed with these shows. She has watched and re-watched all the episodes in all four seasons of Scandal as well as all the seasons of Grey’s Anatomy. Tullis makes her reasons for obsession clear by saying the shows have “great writing styles, epic subplots, and tweaked real life occurrences.”
The plot of Scandal is as follows. Olivia Pope is a professional 'fixer' who makes problems go away before anyone even knows they exist. For the rich, the powerful and even the President himself, Olivia is a legend in her line of work. Her amazing success is due to her ability to trust her instincts. No matter how careful you are, when you do damage control for a living, you're bound to cause some damage to your own life. She and her crew eat, sleep, live and breathe crisis. Each week, as the team races against the clock to defuse intriguing new problems before they become full-blown disasters, they also have to deal with their own personal issues. They may call themselves 'gladiators in suits', but bit by bit, Olivia and her crew begin to reveal their own secrets.
She enjoys these shows not just because of their comedic or dramatic value but, rather, for their cast. Tullis has received several tweets from most of the cast members of Scandal, including Kerry Washington, Bellamy Young, Guillermo Diaz, Josh Malina, Katie Lowes, Tony Goldwyn, Darby Stanchfeild and Columbus Short. These tweets are usually received during live tweeting events which are held during the release of a new episode. Tullis has received multiple tweets from some of these cast members and absolutely loves the interaction.
Tullis does, no matter how unlikely it may sound, have a life outside of TV. She enjoys sports and hanging with one of her friends, Helix High School junior, Bethany Newtson. Newtson does follow some of the programs that Tullis does but is much less, “into them.” Nonetheless, Newtson listens to Tullis ramble about how much she loves her programs and their cast. Newtson doesn’t seem to mind and said, “She isn’t as bad as she used to be.”
It appears that in middle school, Tullis talked about her interests almost constantly. This was a source of some frustration and amusement for Newtson, who considers herself one of Tullis’ best friends and enjoys spending large amounts of time with her.
It may be odd to refer to Tullis as a Gladiator, but once one realizes that the main character of Scandal refers to her staff as “Gladiators in suits,” it makes sense. Naturally, the fans of Scandal, Tullis included, agreed to refer to themselves as gladiators, which demonstrates their devotion to the show and their enjoyment thereof.
