Seniors tend to have a lot of things on their minds, but when asked the most challenging of stressors, 66.6% of them chose that the stress of what comes next year is the thing that they worry about the most; other options included school work 16.6% and going to school 16.6%. The decision of what to do next year easily won, this was to be expected, because giving recent high school graduates the decision that will directly impact the rest of their life can be a rather tough one to make. Many ideas cross their mind, such as, should they take a year off from studies, get a job and start to work, go to a community college, or choose a trade school. Those kind of decisions can start to take a toll on a person.
Picking colleges can be an extremely challenging subject, then comes the fact of whether you will be accepted or not. When picking colleges, seniors ask themselves many questions, several of which contain the cost (83.3%), location (0%), and just not what they want (16.6%). The reason for the cost to be at such a high percentage is because seniors have heard their parents complain for years about how their student loans are taking so much out of their paycheck and about how long they have been paying into them; with all the talk about how expensive college is, it becomes intimidating to seniors about how they are ever going to pay them off. This fear plays a large role in what college a student might attend.
With all of the stress that seniors endure, they can’t help but think about what might come next year, and what they actually are looking forward to. With high school being very constricting and with parents looking over their shoulder, the excitement about what next year might hold can be a good break from it all, with 83.3% saying that they can’t wait to get out of high school and have some freedom; no more school work 0%, having an actual job 16.6%, and dealing with fewer people 0%. When rating their senior year, Helix High School Seniors reported their experience on a scale of 1 to 5 stars. Seniors who rated it only a 1 star were 16.6%, 2 stars came in at 0%, 3 stars were reported by 16.6%, 4 stars were 66.6%, and 5 stars earned 0%.
